Fiber / Scientific Data

Jan 7 2010Blackjack and his sister, Midnight Starr of Salt Creek, recently took first place in Produce of Dam class at the Mid-America class - beating out several WHITE pairs of alpacas. Black can beat white!

Awesome Genetics!

Blackjack of Salt Creek

ARI# 31115261   D.O.B. 10/16/2008

Huacaya, Jr. Herdsire (Male), Unproven | Medium Silver Grey, True Black

3/4 Peruvian, 1/4 Chilean
Sire: Pride of America | ARI# 80804  | DSG
Dam: Dewey Meadows Black Magic | ARI# 840452  | True Black |

3/4 Peruvian and 1/4 Chilean - and a nothing but a winner!

This male just gets better and better as he gets older! WOW - his fiber is soft, BRIGHT, crimpy, and black!

He and his sister recently beat several WHITE pairs of alpacas for the coveted Produce of Dam ribbon due to their outstanding fiber (especially the staple length!!!), conformation, typey head style, overall "package" that they offered as a pair.

Bright, crimpy, SOFT, luxurious black fiber - with a typey head (full fleece!) and absolutely flawless conformation! We anxiously await his fiber analysis - he had a staple length of over 5 inches again this year! WOW!

Blackjack has also managed to sneak all the great traits of his genetic ancestors (Lanark’s Expresso, Drambuie, and Dom Timbo) into his perfect conformation, luxurious fiber, and macho personality package. He is just waiting to explode!

Blackjack just continues to amaze us as he develops. The offspring of a True Black dam (Black Magic) and a Grey sire (Pride of America - a Dom Timbo son), Blackjack is a True Black with a few grey spots - or is he a grey with a whole lot of black?? Regardless, we anticipate he will throw either black or gray once he starts his breeding career next Fall.

And - he is a carbon copy of his reserve champion older sibling, Midnight Starr of Salt Creek. So much so, that the pair of them just help their dam place first in the Produce of Dam class! They managed to beat several pairs of WHITE offspring for this 1st place ribbon - that alone tells you how luxurious and incredible this animal (and his sibling!) is!

Stop by for a look at this handsome yearling today!
